Its obvious both sides need to make concessions in order to meet in the middle. As it stands now, the 2 yr 45 mill is accepted but now its just the manner in which it will be paid out. Dodgers want to spread it out over 5 yrs with no accumulated interest and Manny/Boras want it in 2 years. I know the economy is down and everyone is taking a paycut (unless you play for the Yankees) but considering they got Manny and Blake for free and benefited from all the revenue they brought in with merchandise, playoffs, etc. I think they can budge a little bit more to get it done. I mean they gave Jones 2 yr 36 mil and still paying Schmidt 15 mil this yr you would think they would want to reward players that have not only done well in the past but currently...I guess 2 rings, mvp, and future hall of famer doesnt carry any weight. Or they could sell one of their side by side beachfront properties, just a thought. And if the economy is so bad and they want to make it affordable for the average fan to be able to go to the game (jaime mccourt) then they should lower tix prices! Dodgers average tix price, not counting luxury boxes, is $29 and the Angels is $20 whats wrong with that picture? 3 million plus fans for over a decade! I think its time they reward the fans by doing everything possible to put a winning product on the field. They probably will make half his salary in Manny dreds anyway so lets get it done!
