Skate Save and a Beauty

by Matt Reitz on February 24, 2009

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. Just ask Marty Turco. Better yet, after Turco’s ridiculous save, it might be a better idea to ask Jonathan Toews! I’m sure you’ve heard the call, “kick save and a beauty.”   Turco took that idea to the next level and kicked it with the blade of his skate on his back foot. We’ll see if it’s good enough to overtake Miikka Kiprusoff for Save of the Year.

Another reason to check out the video is the call from the Dallas Stars announcers. It’s always great see a play so good, it inspires the announcer to make up a word. Look for the people at Webster to add “fantasmagoric” to their dictionary. Thank you Daryl Reaugh!

BallHype: hype it up!

When he’s not shoving a mic in the face of NHLers or explaining why home teams should wear white, he’s usually trying to figure out what song to play next on his iPod. It’s a never-ending job.
