Sidney Crosby Drops the Gloves

sidney-crosbyAt least his 2nd career fight was a little better than his 1st one!

I have to admit, if this was anyone else, hockey fans would be happy about this incident.  A superstar on the team got lit up with a check (albeit clean), and the captain went over and stuck up for his teammate.  No matter who the combatants are, it’s always great to see someone defend one of his teammates.  If you watch teams that make it deep into the Stanley Cup playoffs, they always have that team quality that they’ll stick up for anyone on their team at anytime of the game.  If that was Jerome Iginla, everyone would be talking about how he’s such a great leader.  Although, if it was Iginla fighting Ballard, the fight would have been a little more entertaining too.  Here’s the video:

Maybe Crosby should just leave the fighting to some of the other guys on the team.  The Penguins don’t pay him to drop the gloves–and lets be honest, he’s not very good at it.  If he ever legitimately squares up with someone who’s expecting it (instead of jumping them when they aren’t expecting it), he may get killed.

I appreciate the effort there Sid, but leave the fighting to anyone else on the team.

When he’s not shoving a mic in the face of NHLers or explaining why home teams should wear white, he’s usually trying to figure out what song to play next on his iPod. It’s a never-ending job.
