Vote: 2008-09 Goal of the Year

bobby-ryanLately I’ve noticed that I’ve had a lot of headaches. I’ll be walking around, minding my own business and suddenly I’m hit with a bout of dizziness. I break out into a cold sweat and I’ll even start shaking. I look around at other people around me and I know that I stand out. It seems like no one else is going through the same things that I am. But I know that I’m not alone. It’s the middle of summer, and some of us are going through some serious hockey withdrawls.

The draft is over, the craziness that surrounds free agency has died down and the Hall of Fame has announced its inductees. Even next year’s schedule has been released! So now what? Let me tell you what—now we wait. 64 days until the beginning of the NHL season; 66 days for some of us who are waiting for hockey to return to Staples Center.

We just because the temperature has been around triple digits for a week, it doesn’t mean that I don’t need to hit tap the vein and get my hockey fix. So here’s something that should give everyone what they’ve been looking for, a couple of highlights of the best goals of last season.

There were some amazing goals last season, but I’ve narrowed it down to the TWO goals that stood above the rest. One features the NHL’s Most Valuable Player giving us his best highlight of the year; the other gives us a Calder Trophy Finalist giving us a glimpse of what’s to come. So which do YOU think was the best goal of the season?

Bobby Ryan Spin-O-Rama

Ovechkin Goal vs. Habs

Both are great goals, but there can only be one BEST. So who do ya got?

I have to say that Ryan's goal is clearly the better goal and is just pretty. That being said, I have to vote for Alexander the Great. I mean Ryan's goal was against the Kings. How many people did the start in net last year? 12 maybe 13. I thought Hexy was going to so screw it and strap the skates back on himself. So in the end, if Ryans goal wasn't against an ECHL caliber team, it would be better. I don't know may if he did it against the Lightning or Coyotes but since it was the Kings I vote O.A.

Really? Is a Flyers fan going to make fun of a team for having a revolving door in net? Niittymaki and Biron didn't work, so you brought in Emery and Boucher? Pot, meet kettle.

While both goals are great, I think Ovie's goal is much more dramatic. HOWEVER, I think that Ovechkin's goal against the Rangers in Round 1 of the playoffs this year was the best goal of the year (when he broke through 3 guys and scored the goal while falling down.)

I hate to say this but Bobby Ryan's goal was awesome. I'm a huge fan of Ovechkin and it really takes a lot for me to vote for a Duck but that spin-o-rama goal was just epic.

This. Exactly how I feel.... *shakes head in embarrassment and grabs a cocktail*

Ovie. Absolutely not question! And not just because Ryan beat out Doughty for the Calder nominations, or because I hate the Ducks. Although those are both good reasons NOT to vote for Ryan.

Definitely Bobby Ryan's goal.
