Which Winger Would You Want?

by Matt Reitz on July 2, 2009

gaborikFor the most part, we’ve known that there were 3 high priced wingers that were most likely to change teams on July 1st. It’s a day after the Free Agent Frenzy, and none of the big-name guys disappointed. Here’s a quick rundown on the contracts that it took to bring in a legitimate top-line wings this offseason.

- Marian Hossa: 12 years for $62.8 million ($5.23M cap hit)
- Marian Gaborik: 5 years for $37.5 million ($7.5M cap hit)
- Martin Havlat: 6 years for $30 million ($5M cap hit)
- Dany Heatley: 3 NHL ready players (with potential) and respect to make him feel wanted.

So here’s the straight forward question. If your team was going to sign one of those players yesterday (to a similar contract), who would you have wanted?

In case you missed all of the action from the first day of Free Agency, here’s a list of all the players that have signed so far.
