social-media-waste-of-timeStarting Monday, we will launch a 3 day series called “New Media and Hockey.” We’ll get into how the NHL and the rest of the hockey world is interacting and being effected by different types of media. We’ll look at how fans can interact through Twitter and Facebook; how fans can experience the games with YouTube and Podcasts; and how blogs have given fans an explosion of information. Here’s the schedule:

Monday (August 17): New Media and Hockey Day 1: Twitter and Facebook

Tuesday (August 18): New Media and Hockey Day 2: YouTube and Podcasts

Wednesday (August 19): New Media and Hockey Day 3: Hockey Blogs

Do whatever you do to keep track of our website, whether it’s RSS feeds, bookmarking or via e-mail updates. I’m curious for any feedback to hear what everyone thinks about hockey and its relationship with the new media outlets. We’ll see you on Monday…

I’m very interested in seeing this series, Matt. New media has really changed the way sports is covered.

I have noticed a huge increase in traffic from Twitter and Facebook. While I maintain accounts on a lot of different “social media” sites, it can be difficult to follow them all and use them effectively.

Looking forward to seeing what you’ve come up with!
