Daily Cross Checks

Monday October 19

Daily-Cross-Checks
Who’s playing in the NHL tonight? Where can I find it on TV? When should I turn on the aforementioned TV? Most importantly, should I even bother turning on the TV? Here’s a place to find all the games of the night and talk about them to your hearts content. Don’t worry, tomorrow we’ll start all over. Hockey fans, these are your Daily Cross-Checks.

San Jose at NY Rangers
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: VERSUS (HD),TSN2 (HD), (as usual, you can piss off if you have DirecTV)
After losing their first game of the season, the Rangers have won 7 straight en route to their NHL best 14 point start. No offense to the Islanders, but the Sharks face a tougher New York team than they did on Saturday night on Long Island. If their last two games are any indication, we should expect a 4-1 final score. I just have no idea who’s going to win. (By the way, the Rags beat the Leafs in THEIR last game 4-1.)

Los Angeles at Dallas
Time: 5:30 PM PST
TV: FS-W (HD),FS-SW (HD)
The Stars have managed to earn at least a point in 6 out of 7 games this season—which is good enough for SECOND place in the Pacific. If they could win a game that went to a shootout, they’d bet at the top of the NHL standings. The Kings already have a 4 game winning streak on the young season—but they also are in the midst of a 3 game losing streak. There would be no better way to end their season long 6 game road trip with a win.

Vancouver at Edmonton
Time: 6 PM PST
TV: SNET-P (HD),SNET-W (HD)
Life goes on for the Canucks without Daniel Sedin and Sami Salo. After getting hammered on Friday in Calgary, they bounced back the next night at home against the Minnesota Wild. After the league mandated day of rest, they have their 3rd game in 4 nights. The Oilers last game was also a win against the same Minnesota Wild on Friday. Even though they won, they’ll look improve on that 19 shot performance on Friday. They won, but they certainly weren’t as impressive as the 5-2 score.
