Daily Cross Checks

Tuesday October 27

Daily-Cross-Checks
Who’s playing in the NHL tonight? Where can I find it on TV? When should I turn on the aforementioned TV? Most importantly, should I even bother turning on the TV? Here’s a place to find all the games of the night and talk about them to your heart’s content. Don’t worry, tomorrow we’ll start all over. Hockey fans, these are your Daily Cross-Checks.

Philadelphia at Washington
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: RDS,TSN (HD),VERSUS (HD) DirecTV subscribers can just skip this one
Anyone remember the first time these two teams played this year? The 6-5 overtime win for the Flyers was one of the most exciting games of the young season. Richards had a hat trick, Ovechkin had a couple and the game looked like a playoff game! Just like the last time these teams met, you’re shit out of luck if you have DirecTV. (Is there any end in sight to that fiasco?)

Colorado at Edmonton
Time: 6:30 PM PST
TV: ALT (HD),SNET-W (HD)
I’m going to keep mentioning this as long as its relavent and true: the Avalanche are the #1 team in the Western Conference. Damn, I wish I could go back and take that $10 I put on the Predators as my long shot and put it on the 100/1 Avs. Speaking of surprises, how many Oilers fans thought that Dustin Penner would be their best forward in the month of October?

Detroit at Vancouver
Time: 7 PM PST
TV: FS-D,SNET-P (HD)
The battle of 4th place teams. That’s right, FOURTH place in their own division. The Canucks have been a much better team at GM Place; so they’ll look to continue that trend against the hated Wings. I keep waiting for the Wings of old to show up—but the CONSISTENCY they usually play with seems to be lacking. At least its October and not March.
