When Jonathan Toews was a top prospect at the University of North Dakota, I’m not sure he THIS was the part of the NHL that he was looking forward to. The great young leader of the Blackhawks was on the receiving end of the biggest hit of the young season. Apparently, Willie Mitchell didn’t care that he’s only 21 years old. I love Toews’ game and hope he makes Team Canada, but dude needs to keep his head up!
When I saw the hit live, it was one of those plays that you involuntarily yell, “OH SHIT!” Then, I immediately hit rewind on the DV-R to see it again. Take a look for yourself—Toews had no idea what state he was in.
Beware: it’s brutal.
