Another Damaged Duck: Koivu Suffers Lower-Body Injury

by Matt Reitz on January 14, 2010

Team Finland’s captain Saku Koivu went out of Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings after playing less than 9 minutes. Koivu left about halfway through the 2nd period with what is being reported as a lower body injury.

This injury is on the heels of the announcement that Teemu Selanne will be out for the next 2-6 weeks with a broken jaw. Mix in the fact that Joffrey Lupul recently had surgery to repair a herniated disc and the Ducks are going to have problems scoring goals.

That’s exactly half of their Top 6 for those of you scoring at home.
