I might just be a hockey fan in California, but:
- I am not superstitious, but I believe in the Hockey Gods. There’s a difference.
- I get the distinct impression that no one wants Peter Sykora (he might be the last one to know though).
"Why doesn't anyone want me?"
- Jean Beliveau having a stroke is probably the worst “hockey” news of the week. Whether you like the Habs or not, Beliveau has always been all classy and represented the game better than anyone I can think of.
- Who would have thought there would be a point that Detroit and Calgary were the 8th and 9th seeds in the West?
- In the span of five days, Jonathan Quick beat not one, but BOTH of the other goalies for Team USA.
- I have no clue what Pavel Datsyuk will come up with next.
- Ovechkin beat Crosby on Thursday night. None of the other 38 guys had to show up for the game.
- Remember how much pressure the Lightning heaped on Steven Stamkos with the “Seen Stamkos ads?” Judging by the ice-time that Victor Hedman has logged, they haven’t learned their lesson.
- I can’t wait for the next game between the Rangers and Flyers. Carcillo, Avery, Hartnell, Gaborik—yeah, I’m sure they won’t remember a thing from this week’s game.
- How badly do you think the Oilers and their fans want to trade Shawn Horcoff’s salary?
"Hmmm... do they want to trade me? Or my contract?"
- The Kings have beaten the Sabres, Capitals, Penguins, and won their season series with the Sharks. Yet they’re struggling for a playoff spot. That’s so wrong.
- I wonder if Marty Turco has assumed all goaltending consulting duties for Alex Auld.
- Don’t look now—but the Ducks are climbing the standings. What is going to happen when they’re actually healthy?
- Can you imagine hockey in 3D? Avatar WHAT?!?
- Team Russia has added 9 “substitute players” to travel with the team for the Olympics in Vancouver. So tell me why they bother submitting rosters again?
- For a guy that has been in demand and consequently shipped off by about half of the NHL teams, is Alex Tanguay really that good?
- I wonder where all those Red Wings fans who were Jimmy Howard haters are now.
- The Nashville Predators are 5th in the West, have room under the salary cap, have 2 goaltenders that are very good (and both pending free agents) and have a need for scoring. So why aren’t they mentioned in every trade rumor?
- Los Angeles Kings head coach Terry Murray is a bundle of energy and excitement. He needs to tone it down—10 levels, right now.
- John Tortorella press conferences should be broadcast LIVE on NHL Network after each and every Rangers game in their entirety.
- Gary Bettman is a pompous little person that needs to be fired for the good of the game.
