I would like to see the New York Rangers acquire Laraque. As a season ticket holder, i have had the opportunity to witness how absolutely washed up Donald Brashear is. He could never skate, score or pass, but he used to be a formidable enforcer. Those days are gone. I have not seen him win a fight this season, and I actually see some of the younger pugilists letting up on him after getting the best of him. They don't want to hit the old guy again. In a game against the Flyers goon Dan Carcillo gave a beating to Ranger's star Marian Gaborik, a player who does not fight. No one on the Rangers addressed this until Sean Avery, the heart of the team, got the better of Carcillo in a retribution fight. But Avery is a little guy who plays big, not an enforcer. This was a situation where a George Laraque on the bench would have been a nice thing. Perhaps the era of having an enforcer on the team is waning, but situations like the one I've described say there is still a place for a feared enforcer to protect your valuable skill players. Come on Sather, pick up Laraque and get rid of Brashear.
