One of the best traditions in the NHL is the practice of each Stanley Cup winner getting their “Day with the Cup” every summer. Most players will bring it back to their hometowns to celebrate with their fans and participate in parades. Here’s a look at what some of the Blackhawk boys may choose to do with theirs.
Jonathan Toews: Whatever he does with it, he’ll make sure he shows no emotion.
Marian Hossa: He’ll take the Cup to see the genie in a bottle who gave him his third wish.
Niemi Says Yes!
Antti Niemi: The netminder will take it back to Finland to celebrate being the first ever Finnish goaltender to win the Cup, but whenever someone tries to get close to it, Niemi says NO!
Patrick Sharp: He, his playoff beard, and the Cup will join ZZ Top on the road for a night – because you know what they say – Every girl’s crazy ’bout a Sharp dressed man…
Adam Burish: He’ll sit with it alone in a dark room and just talk to it for 24 hours straight.
Dustin Byfuglien: He’ll put a skirt on it, take it to Philly, and relentlessly taunt as many fans as he can find.
Duncan Keith: Before he falls asleep, he’ll put his 7 teeth under the Cup to pay the Cup Fairy.
Brent Seabrook: He’ll let Keith carry it for him on his special day… since he’s been carrying him all season anyway.
Cristobal Huet: He’ll put a baseball cap on it and set it on the end of a bench.
Troy Brouwer: He’ll pour some champagne in the Cup and share a drink with his Dad.
John Madden: He’ll bring it to New Jersey so he can share it with his old buddies with the Devils… You know, since they cant make it past the first round.
Brian Campbell: He’ll take it to the Sharks fans who booed him, just to return the love.
Patrick Kane: He’ll split a cab with the Cup on the way home from the Buffalo airport, but will force it to pick up the fare.
No matter how they choose to spend their day with Lord Stanley, they’ve earned every second. Congratulations to the 2009-2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks!
