CJ Shepard
As a Bruins fans since birth, my earliest memories are of Johnny Bucyk (The Chief) raising The Cup overhead after “Orr be nimble, Orr be quick, Orr jumped over the hockey stick” sealed the fate of the St. Louis Blues. Growing up, we played hockey every chance we got, in the hallway, on the porch, in our cousin’s basement, or on the table with pencils and a foil puck… We fought over the honor to be Bobby Orr, Derek Sanderson, or Gerry Cheevers and after the Miracle on Ice for the honor to be Johnson, Craig, and Eruzione. Hockey is my family’s common bond, and we still wax nostalgic about growing up with TV-38′s the late Fred Cusick being our voice of the Bruins, and Bob Wilson on 1030AM calling the game on the clock radio as we drifted off to sleep (well, mom thought we were sleeping). My passion for following the entire NHL developed after the lockout, and while I have been fortunate to stay within range of my favorite team, the post lockout NHL has given me an appreciation for all the great play across the NHL.
My loyal sidekick “The Pup”, a 4 yr old 65lb rescued shelter dog, loves her hockey too, especially when the goal cookies come her way! Needless to say we spend the weekends running off those goal cookies!! I enjoy sharing my passion for the game with fans around the world thanks to Twitter and the blogosphere! Meeting great hockey tweeps at games, NHL Tweet-ups, or when traveling for business only reinforces my love for the game and the passion our hockey community shares.
Favorite current NHL players (in NO particular order!!): Patrice Bergeron, Mark Recchi, Billy Guerin, Mike Knuble, Ryan Kesler, Andy Greene, Rob Scuderi, Stephane Robidas, Zach Parise, Duncan Keith, Tim Thomas, Shea Weber, Ryan Callahan, Mike Cammalleri, Bobby Ryan, and Patrick Kane…just to name a few!
You can find me on Twitter (Hawgs38) and also contributing to Hockey Independent sharing my thoughts on the Bruins.
